How to make Opal Glass Bottles & Jars Step by Step

01 SHULOPAL opal glass jars Raw Material

Step#1 Raw Material

SHULOPAL opal glass, made from from natural minerals, with high-quality quartz sand as the main raw material. A systematic quality management process was implemented starting at the raw material stage to ensure high-quality products from the source.

Step#2 Furnace Melting

In OPAL glass container factory, we operates 2 electric furnaces, the raw materials are melted at temperatures exceeding , 1600°C and are thoroughly mixed, which are pollution-free and have zero emissions. The total daily max material output reaches 90 tons.

The precision-timed shear blades at the discharge outlet cut the molten opal glass into nearly uniform-weight melt droplets, which then descend through the glass flow channel under gravity into the forming molds of the IS machine.

Step#4 Blow Process

The press-and-blow process is the most widely used manufacturing method, In this process, a metal plunger compresses the molten glass into a parison (preform) within a mold. The parison is then transferred to a blow mold and reheated to the optimal blowing temperature before compressed air injection forms it into the final shape.
The  blow-and-blow process, conversely, is specialized for narrow-neck glass bottles. Here, compressed air first shapes the parison, which is then 180° rotated and reheated. A second air pressure application inflates the parison against the mold walls to achieve the desired contours.

Step#5 Washing

After molding, the bottles and jars are cleaned with a bottle-washing line.

Step#6 Annealing

After maintaining a uniform temperature in the annealing furnace for a certain period, the glass is slowly cooled to eliminate or reduce thermal stress caused by rapid and uneven temperature changes during production, thereby improving the product’s heat resistance and impact strength.

Step#7 Color Spraying

SHULOPAL opal glass containers can be uniformly sprayed with multiple colors. The coatings exhibit excellent adhesion and are resistant to fading or chipping, ensuring food-safe performance compliant with food contact safety standards. Shading, iridescence, metallic effects, soft touching coating, different decoration techonoly make your products more attractive.

Step#8 Decoration

Heat transfer decals, more customized decor designs and colors avalable.

Step#9 Decor Firing

After applying decal decoration, the product is placed in a kiln and baked for approximately 60 minutes at a temperature of 610°C. The resulting product features vibrant, fade-resistant colors that maintain their brilliance over time.

Step#10 Finished product QC

SHULOPAL’s quality team carefully inspects the bottles and jars, sorting out any with defects such as bubbles, cracks, or deformities, which are then crushed and recycled.

Assemble and package them securely according to the customer's requirements.

Each order undergoes regular sampling inspections according to the specified AQL standards before shipment to ensure compliance with quality control guidelines.
